Mardi Gras is just around the corner – celebrate in Downtown Bryan starting Saturday, February 22. Events will include fun for the whole family.
Children will have the opportunity to participate in face painting, bead tossing contests, crawfish races, and mask decorating from 10am-4pm. Other festivities will include New Orleans-style dish specials at Downtown restaurants, horse-drawn carriage rides, a celebrity bead toss, and walking tours throughout the day. At 6pm the evening will conclude with a parade led by Greg Tivis and the N’awlins Jazz Band ending at the Palace Theater for a free concert.
There are also several events continuing throughout the “season.” Enjoy Cajun food specials, a King Cake scavenger hunt, mask and/or umbrella decorating, a merchant window decorating contest, and a Mardi Gras King competition. Contestants for the King Competition are Mike Perez (Papa Perez), Scott Catalena (Catalena Hatters), Clark Fiedler (Hemline Boutique), and Jim Wood (Lemon Wedge).
Tuesday, March 4 will conclude the celebration starting at 5:30pm with a pub crawl, crawfish boil, live music, dinner and drink specials throughout downtown, and an appearance by the crowned Mardi Gras King at The Village.
