The Arts Council will host Empty Bowls, Jr., February 28, in an effort to end hunger in the Brazos Valley. Empty Bowls is a nation-wide project designed to end hunger and food insecurity. Fundraisers across the globe have raised several million dollars in an effort to fight hunger. The Arts Council, Brazos Valley art educators and students, and Taste of BCS are continuing this effort through Empty Bowls, Jr.
This year Empty Bowls, Jr. will be held at Crystal Park Plaza, 2700 Earl Rudder FWY S in College Station on Saturday February 28 from 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come pick out a beautiful handmade bowl, eat delicious soup, and fight hunger in the Brazos Valley.
The bowls for Empty Bowls, Jr. have been created by students and teachers from Allen Academy, Bryan ISD, College Station ISD, and Richards ISD. For a donation of $10, participants can pick out their own specially made bowl and receive a simple meal of soup and bread. Soup for the event has been donated by Café Eccell, Casa Rodriguez, Cheddar’s Casual Café, Fish Daddy’s Grill House, Shipwreck Grill, and The Village Cafe. Bread has been donated by Blue Baker. All proceeds from Empty Bowls, Jr. benefit the College Station ISD Food Pantries and The Arts Council.

The College Station ISD Food Pantries are volunteer run projects, managed by school personnel and students in partnership with the Brazos Valley Food Bank. The mission of the Food Pantry is to provide food to area students and staff whose families are facing hunger and food insecurity.
The Arts Council has served the Brazos Valley for over 40 years with one mission – to make the arts accessible to all residents and visitors of the Brazos Valley through funding, promotion, advocacy, professional development and partnership building programs.
