The Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley is bidding a fond farewell to their current home in the old Municipal Building with Farewell Lemonade, Cookies and Play Night. Everyone is invited to the free admission event at The Children's Museum, Friday, August 1, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm to enjoy a lemonade- and cookies-filled night of play.
Museum visitors are welcome to sign cards with a favorite Museum memory or a wish for the Museum's new location. Each family that visits during the event will receive a copy of the Museum's book, The Firegator, while supplies last. August 2 is the final day the museum will be open at the Municipal Building location.
The Children's Museum first opened in April 1998. Within two years, the City of Bryan had donated the historic Municipal Building to serve as a permanent home for The Museum and a grand opening for the street-level floor occurred in November of 2001. In August 2004, one of The Museum's Discovery Programs, the Storytelling Guild/Storytelling Camp, won the prestigious MetLife Foundation/Association of Children's Museums "Promising Practices Awards." Today, The Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley is a well-respected institution committed to providing interactive exhibits and educational programs that challenge youth to ask questions and fully engage their minds in the learning process. The Museum has grown to serve thousands of visitors each year and looks forward to continuing to serve the community from its new location at 4001 29th Street, Suite 80.
All children and members of the community are encouraged to visit The Museum at 111 E. 27th St. in Bryan during this special event. A special thank you to Blue Baker, Cake Junkie and Chick-fil-A for generously donating refreshments for the event.
