The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History and the Texas A&M Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching announce Field Sketches, a free workshop for science teachers at the Museum on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9am to 4pm. The workshop offers continuing education credit for teachers through TRC in the Center for Mathematics and Science Education, College of Science, Texas A&M University. The workshop will be led by TRC Project Director Dr. Carolyn Schroeder and BVMNH Associate Director and Education Coordinator Maria Lazo.
Participants will learn how to teach their students to create a field notebook by starting one of their own. Teachers will use the Museum’s outside areas (weather permitting) as well as Museum specimens for drawing. Teachers will receive a sketchbook, pencils, watercolors, etc. This workshop is fun, educational, and easily adapted to a variety of settings and ability levels. Lunch and snacks will be provided for workshop participants.
