For anyone interested in learning Turkish, an orientation for the upcoming spring Turkish language courses will be held in the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University from 5:30pm to 6:40pm, Thursday, January 23. Complimentary pizza and soda will be served at the event. The textbook and course materials will be reviewed to answer any questions prospective Turkish students may have.
Turkish is the fifth most spoken language in the world, with more than 200 million speakers worldwide. Because Turkey is centrally located between both Europe and Asia, the culture and language of the country have a wide sphere of influence. Turkish is an increasingly important language for both business and politics on the global scale and can be useful for a wide range of careers.
The Turkish courses last 10 weeks, meeting once each week, and take place both on and off campus in order to be accessible to students and non-students alike. They are offered at the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels and are free of charge for everyone. Saturday classes begin on January 25 and Thursday classes being January 30.
