The nights begin to get colder and spookier as Halloween approaches, which also means the 6th annual Zombie Pub Crawl is getting closer! At 7pm on Oct. 20, the undead will traverse 12 participating bars in Downtown Bryan, including BCS Zoigl, Downtown Uncorked, Murphy’s Law, The Proudest Monkey, Revolution Cafe and Bar, and more.
In order to get into all the participating bars and restaurants, you must purchase a $5 wristband for the event, which is supported by the Downtown Bryan Association. Each participating location will offer $4 drink specials and other festivities. A costume contest will ensue at each bar throughout the evening. A grand finale costume contest will crown a winner at midnight at The Village Cafe, followed by a dance party in the alley, according to Kristy Petty, chairman of the board of directors of the DBA and owner of The Village Café.
A face painting “zombification” station at The Village Café and Downtown Uncorked will be available to complete your costume transformation. Stop by each bar and get your zombie passport stamped for a chance to enter the raffle for a Grand Prize Downtown Basket, which includes a gift from each participating bar, according to Petty.
Jake Mitchell, owner of Rx Pizza and Bar, says events like the Zombie Pub Crawl bring a different crowd to Downtown. “People usually pick one place and settle there, but this [pub crawl] gets people walking around and trying different places,” he says. “There is something for everyone here.”
In addition to the pub crawl, Revolution Cafe and Bar will host a concert and Halo will have a drag show, all included with a wrist band purchase. Fright Nights Haunted House at the Palace Theatre will be open and offers a $5 discount with the Zombie Pub Crawl wristband.
