The Grimes County Courthouse is turning 125 years old. In honor of this milestone event, courthouse friends, neighbors, and community-wide residents are invited to a Birthday Celebration in Historic Anderson on Saturday, June 15, from 9am to 1pm. The event’s title sponsor is CenterPoint Energy.
This free birthday celebration will feature a variety of activities such as a pancake breakfast, an antique car exhibit with vehicles from the turn of the century, guided tours of the courthouse, a history display inside the courtroom, kids’ korner, hot dogs, and an ice cream social courtesy of Blue Bell Creameries. Music will be provided by a barbershop quartet and a brass band.
Dignitaries at the event will include Texas State Senator Charles Schwertner. The day will culminate with the dedication of a time capsule to be sealed for 25 years and opened again at the courthouse’s 150th birthday celebration.
In honor of this community celebration, there will be cake and cupcakes provided by Cakes by Blondie. Birthday party guests will also receive a free custom commemorative item while supplies last.
