The City of Bryan and the Mounce Public Library in Downtown Bryan are hosting the fifth annual Juneteenth Children's Art Fair on the morning of Wednesday, June 17, from 10am to noon on the second floor of the Mounce Public Library.
The event will feature performer and storyteller Elizabeth Kahura, founder of the African Safari Program. Through music, performing arts, storytelling literature, and original pictures, the audience actively participates in the feeling of Africa. There will also be seven hands-on art activity centers featuring an aspect of African Art as well as African-American artists.
This annual Juneteenth event is one of a summer-long series of weekly educational and fun family events that make up an important part of Mounce Public Library's summer reading program.
The event is dedicated to the memory of Thabiti Ngozi, chairman of the first Juneteenth Art Festival at the library and former president of Brazos African Art. The Brazos African American Museum of the Brazos Valley is partnering with the library on this event. For more information, visit www.bcslibrary.org.
