The Downtown Bryan Lighted Christmas Parade kicks off at 6:30pm on Friday, Dec. 14. Beginning at 24th Street and Bryan Avenue, the parade will be led by Grand Marshals Bobby Gutierrez and Tamara Garza, who were named Queen's Ball King and Queen for 2018 during the New Year's Eve fundraiser for the historic theater in Downtown Bryan.
With just fewer than 60 entries this year, the 2018 Downtown Bryan Lighted Christmas Parade sets a record for participation from community organizations and groups who contribute to the intimate feel of the event, according to organizers.
"We have everything from Bryan ISD school groups and community nonprofits to car clubs and Cub Scouts," says Katelyn Brown, events coordinator for the Downtown Bryan Association. "Every entry is required to have lights of some kind. This parade has a very hometown-style flavor as it winds its way through the streets of our historic downtown," Brown said.
The parade will proceed south on Bryan Avenue, turning at 28th Street and continuing north on Main Street. Santa Claus will bring up the rear of the parade.
Main and Bryan streets will close at 5:30pm on parade day. No vehicular traffic will be allowed in or out of the parade route until its conclusion.
