First Friday in Downtown Bryan is this Friday, May 1. A full line up of performances will play at both the Palace and Sale Park throughout the night. The Bryan HS Orchestra will kick off the night at the Palace at 6pm, followed by the Rudder HS Band Chamber Ensembles at 6:45pm. Ride the Panda will be jamming out afterwards thanks to generous sponsors Allen Honda and Mix 104.7. Ride the Panda plays punk-y power pop that never fails to get people of all ages dancing on the floor. Allen Honda and Mix 104.7 will also be giving away Vanilla Dr. Pepper floats for anyone who stops by to say hello.
The Milam Elementary Choir will perform first in the night of music at Sale Park beginning at 5:30pm. Also performing will be the Johnson Celebration Singers at 6pm, the Henderson Harmonics at 6:30pm, the Rudder HS Color Guard at 7pm and if you’re in the mood for a good beat, check out the Bryan HS Viking Indoor Percussion at 7:30pm. After the amazing lineup of great entertainment from Bryan ISD, stick around for the FREE showing of "The Goonies" at Sale Park at 8:15pm, sponsored by the Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
The historic 104 year-old Parker Lumber Building in Downtown Bryan will celebrate its Grand Opening on May 1 during First Friday. Purchased in 2014 by local architects and developers Chris Lawrence and René Graham of BCS Modern, the building now houses creative office and gallery space, and -- for the first time ever -- classroom space for Texas A&M University. The Parker Lumber Building will be open to the public during the grand opening celebration from 6 - 11pm. Visualization and Architecture students from Texas A&M University will be exhibiting their classwork. In addition, there will be live music, free food, a time capsule, kids activities, and an interactive art wall.
In addition to these special events, Downtown merchants and restaurants will be open for all your shopping and dining needs.
