For the first time, the world’s top selling jazz instrumentalist and multi-Grammy winner Chris Botti comes to Aggieland to perform a one-night-only concert as part of the 2016-17 OPAS season. What promises to be an unforgettable evening of music on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 7:30pm in Rudder Auditorium, the concert will feature Chris Botti and his 9-piece band (including two vocalists) performing jazz, pop, and classical favorites. For more than two decades, multi Grammy Award-winning master trumpeter and composer Chris Botti has amassed a spectacular variety of honors, including multiple Gold and Platinum albums, to become the nation’s largest selling instrumental artist. His mesmerizing performances with a stunning array of legends such as Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Yo-Yo Ma, Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Andrea Bocelli have cemented his place as one of the most brilliant and inspiring forces of the contemporary music scene. Whether he’s performing with illustrious symphonies or at renowned venues around the globe, his unparalleled crystalline and poetic sound transcends musical boundaries.
Anne Black, OPAS executive director states, “When we announced Chris Botti as part of our 44th season, our subscribers couldn’t believe he hadn’t been here before. Believe me when I say, it wasn’t for lack of trying! I’m so glad we were finally able to get him. Chris Botti is to the trumpet what Emanuel Ax is to the piano, what Yo-Yo Ma is to the cello, and what Itzhak Perlman is to the violin. The three I just mentioned were sold out concerts in Rudder Auditorium. We hope to have the same at Mr. Botti’s performance.”
Chris Botti will announce his program from the stage. But black explains, “While there are no guarantees, Chris Botti and his band will perform a variety filled set of jazz, pop and classical favorites which could include the songs ‘When I Fall In Love’, ‘Concierto De Aranjuez’ and ‘The Look of Love’.”
Good seats are available to the one-night-only concert at www.MSCOPAS.org.
