Auditions for Noises Off by Michael Frayne will be held at the Navasota Theatre Alliance Sunny Furman Theatre on Monday, Dec. 9, and Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7pm. The show is produced by the Navasota Theatre Alliance, and director Jennifer Hargis seeks five actors and four actresses from ages 18 to 50s, along with stage crew and supporting stage hands. This live theatre production is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. and runs from Feb. 21 through March 8, 2020.
Noises Off is called “the funniest farce ever written.” Noises Off presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.
Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script and in an English accent (no need to be perfect). This play has adult situations and some explicit language.
Attend both nights of auditions if at all possible. This gives the director more freedom to put different actors beside each other to see the chemistry between them. Roles will be assigned at the end of auditions on the second night, and scripts will be handed out at that time.
