The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History will host their annual Spring Mini Camp program, “Why in the World?” designed for children ages 4-12 from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20. Camp will run from 9am– 3pm with before and after care available.
Studying science and history helps children to know and understand the world around them. The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History offers children this opportunity in a safe, fun, and educational setting. Through non-traditional teaching techniques, fun-filled lessons, and crafts & activities, campers will be encouraged to explore different mysteries of the world such as why animals migrate, why each snowflake is unique, and why dogs pant or cats purr.
Students may come for one day, several days, or even all five. Daily topics this year include: One of a Kind, Colors in Nature, Epic Journeys, Pet Puzzlers, and Giants in Nature. There are so many mysteries in nature and the week will be fueled by curiosity as campers learn the answers to some of the WHY’s of nature. They will explore how flowers and birds use color and how animals communicate. They will sharpen their scientific skills as they discover why some animals become so big, why some make epic journeys, and much more.
The Museum facilities include classroom areas, the Discovery Room, and a 40-acre park, all used to enhance children’s learning experience. The staff members are experienced teachers and to ensure personalized instruction, classes are kept small with a teacher to student ratio of 1:10. Of course, this means classes fill up quickly, so don’t wait to register. Download a fillable PDF registration form at bit.ly/BVMscamp15 and email it to education@brazosvalleymuseum.org. Registration is $45 a day for members, $50 a day for non-members, and discounts for full-week registrations. See the brochure for more pricing information, including discounts as well as other details about the camp.
