Runners will be stampeding their way through Bryan College Station on Oct. 14th at 7:30am as the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History hosts its 9th annual Buffalo Stampede!
This year’s Celebrity Starter is Texas A&M University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Gary Blair! Raised in Dallas, he has been at Texas A&M since 2003.
Coach Blair led the Women’s Basketball team to victory as the 2013 SEC champions, and took the Aggies to 12 straight NCAA Tournament appearances and four conference championships. Under his leadership the team has made it to the Sweet Sixteen five times since 2008. Coach Blair has received numerous awards and honors, including being inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
Gary Blair is very active in the B/CS community. He works with the Coach Blair Charities to raise money for charities operating in B/CS and surrounding communities, focusing especially on the Texas Special Olympics.
Coach Blair is married to Dr. Nan Smith-Blair, associate professor of nursing and director of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing in the College of Education and Health Professions. Together they have two children, Paige and Matt, and three grandchildren, Logan, Lola, and Landry.
Join Coach Blair at the starting line at 7:30am on Oct. 14 to kick off this one-of-a-kind race benefiting the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History — the only Natural History Museum in the Brazos Valley. Run with your heart!
