The Arts Council and City of Navasota are hosting the Horlock House Open Studio Event on May 17. Artists in Residence Gregory Darby, Owen Drysdale, and Michael Villarreal have been living and working in the historic Horlock House for three months and are ready to show off what they have been creating.
Stop by the Horlock House at 1215 E. Washington Ave, in Navasota on Saturday, May 17, anytime from 5:30pm to 8:00pm to see the newest artwork and enjoy live music and light refreshments courtesy of The Filling Station Café.
The Navasota Artist in Residence program is managed by The Arts Council in collaboration with the City of Navasota. The program provides three artists with an opportunity to explore their talents, focus on creating artwork, and learn the business of becoming a successful professional artist. The artists live in the recently renovated Horlock House in downtown Navasota, which features living quarters, studio space, and gallery space, combining to create a unique experience and atmosphere for the artists. Rent, utilities, and internet costs are covered by the residency program. The gallery, located on the first floor of the Horlock House, showcases the work of the artists and is open to the public, free of charge, five days a week.
