Mark Wills, Jake Worthington, the Mike Donnell Band, and a guest performer will provide live entertainment you won’t want to miss at Concert in the Country on Nov. 4. The concert will benefit Boots for Troops, the Hurricane Harvey Military Family Relief Fund, and Green Zone Housing. Food trucks, vendors, and a kid zone will add to the fun.
Last year’s Concert in the Country had about 800 people in attendance. This year between 2,000 and 2,500 people are expected to attend. The event will take place on a beautiful horse farm in Magnolia, thus creating a one of a kind concert literally in the country.
Boots for Troops has two primary programs. Their care package program is designed to boost the morale of deployed service members by giving them a completely customized package tailored just to their likes and needs. With hundreds of request coming in, the funds from this concert will greatly help Boots for Troops deliver more packages to American troops.
The Boots for Troops warrior morale program provides financial assistance for active duty service men and women who need help for the holidays or emergency situations. A misconception of many is that the military provides transportation for our troop’s home when they are on leave. This is absolutely not true. It is up to each one to pay for and arrange their own transportation to and from their home. To help with this, Boots for Troops books and pays for flights to help elevate the costs of travel during difficult times. Last year Boots for Troops was able to provide 30 flights.
To help with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Boots for Troops has set up a Harvey relief fund to help military and veteran families affected by the storm get back on their feet. Boots for Troops will help rebuild homes, purchase clothing and furniture, rebuild fences, and redo floors for military and veteran families in need.
Green Zone Housing provides permanent housing to homeless and at risk veterans. They have 10 families ready to be assisted with the funds raised at the Concert in the Country event.
