Theatre revisits its ancestral roots of outdoor performances through Shakes on the Lake. Beginning Thursday, July 29, director Mandy Mershon brings Shakespeare to life with five performances of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Shakes on the Lake seeks to provide Bryan/College Station with access to the arts in ways that are uncommon throughout the community. Minimal costuming and set design fosters an environment highlighting character relations alongside the natural backdrop of Lake Walk.
Performances are free to attend and will be held under Lake Walk's open-air Pavilion starting July 29 at 8 p.m. Shakes on the Lake will be back for four additional performances on Friday, July 30, Thursday, August 5, Friday, August 6, and Saturday, August 7. Each performance will begin at 8 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on the Pavilion lawn. Before the show begins, performance goers can experience authentic, Texas cuisine at Campfire - The Stella Hotel's award winning restaurant. Picnics and coolers are allowed at this event.
