Lake Walk, the lively town center featuring lifestyle and outdoor pursuits, hosts the Third Annual CHI St. Joseph Gran Fondo on March 3.
The cycling event, which begins at 7:30am, benefits CHI St. Joseph Health’s cancer services. Cyclists start at The Lookout Observation Tower outside The Stella Hotel and ride through the scenic, bluebonnet-covered Brazos Valley, with plenty of rest stations throughout the route. The event concludes at the Lake Walk pavilion with festivities for the riders, volunteers, and their guests.
Registration for the 20-, 40-, 70- or 100-mile rides can be done online or at the Lake Walk Pavilion on the day of the race beginning at 7am. Also occurring this year is the Gran Gravel 500, a challenging 500-mile cycling event suited for ultra-cyclists and long-distance cycling enthusiasts. The race starts at The Stella Hotel at 5am, and traverses through rugged terrain across several counties in the Brazos Valley. Lake Walk is Bryan College Station’s premier destination to engage the senses. This month kicks off Lake Walk Town Center’s signature events including The Local and Eats and Beats Summer Concert Series. Health and wellness activities abound, and free outdoor community yoga classes take place every Saturday at 8am, with Stroller Strides, a weekly fitness class for families with young children, occurring immediately after.
Earlier this month, Coterie, a Women’s Boutique opened at Lake Walk. The fashion boutique offers a unique collection of clothing, accessories, shoes, gifts, high-end furniture, and lighting. Coterie also features an in-house interior designer, Jenny Tamplin Interiors. In addition, Lake Walk has partnered with the Children’s Museum of the Brazos Valley by providing a platform through community events to bring awareness to “Play Aggieland,” a project that promotes learning, discovery, and health and wellness.
The CHI St. Joseph Health MatureWell Lifestyle Center, in partnership with Texas A&M University Health Science Center, offers a single destination for adults 55 and older to access a variety of healthcare services under one roof. MatureWell provides seniors a comprehensive location where they can achieve their health and wellness goals, manage illnesses and treatments through the help of a specialized physician, and take advantage of social and educational opportunities designed exclusively for them.
