The organization Books and a Blanket is putting on a virtual Witches & Wizards 5K! The event is a week long and each day will have an interactive/coached running, jogging, or walking activity that by the end of the week will add up to a total 5K for you to join in on if you want, or you can run the 5K on your own time!
Each day will also have a fun, magical, and literature-themed activity for all of the witch and wizard participants! The event will have everything from making butterbeer and spell books, a Harry Potter movie screening, a virtual magic show to competitions and giveaways to win tons of prizes! And, experience the fun of getting to pick your house — are you one of the brave, clever, kind, or cunning? Let them know when you register, get a shirt in your house color, and earn points for your house throughout the week! Activities each day will begin at 3pm and will repeat in several time slots, so everyone has the chance to join in on the magical fun!
Register now through the event website for $35 until Oct. 14!
Books and a Blanket, located in College Station, has the main mission of promoting literacy and well-being for all. Regularly the organization donates books and blankets to children in need and to elementary schools. The event this year has the purpose of fundraising, promoting awareness about the organization and what it does, and promoting awareness of literacy (specifically, childhood literacy). This event is one that hopefully will allow Books and a Blanket to grow so that more books and blankets can be donated, more people will know about the availability of the resources offered, and many more will come to realize the importance of literacy — all things that hopefully will promote the overall well-being of many. Books and a Blanket also hopes that this event will be a creative and active outlet for many people to dive into the things they love and get an escape from such a difficult time— while still bringing about productive, meaningful awareness. Purchase your ticket today to help them reach these goals and be an advocate for childhood literacy and well-being.
