Six years after Carey Cormier purchased the spa Facelogic in College Station, she became its sole owner and thought to rebrand it Emerald Lotus Massage & Spa. “The Emerald Lotus was my LLC, so I always had the vision of wanting that name to come to fruition,” she says. It made perfect sense, since the lotus flower is known as a symbol of self-regeneration and rebirth in many cultures. “I then had the freedom to be creative, and that was very rewarding,” Cormier says.
It took three more years for her to take that step. “I felt this was the right time,” Cormier says. “People needed to see a positive change and look forward to seeing something exciting and new.” Some of the updates to the Aggie-owned and operated spa include new signage, branding, logos, and décor, including paint, furniture, and fixtures. “Our transformation celebration, as we called it, took place from Oct. 20 through Oct. 23, 2020,” she says.
The spa’s emphasis is on facial and body treatments that are result-oriented with a holistic approach, Cormier says. “You get to relax, rejuvenate, and see results at the same time,” Cormier says. “The name in itself speaks volumes. You’re going to be transported somewhere else and have your staycation.”
Cormier, who has been a massage specialist since 2002, works in the back alongside her team. She is thankful that she has been able to keep all of her employees through the pandemic and says that it has brought them closer together. “We have a quote in our breakroom by Rumi: ‘Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life,’” Cormier says. “It brings gratitude to the forefront of our minds.”

“The team that I have now is just an incredible family,” Cormier says. “We just have so much passion. The transformation happened when it was supposed to happen, and I couldn't have done it without the team that I have today.”
Along with the rebrand, the spa offers new services, products, and treatments that Facelogic did not carry, such as the henna-based lash and brow tint service and a wider range of facials that target specific concerns from acne-prone skin to fine line or anti-aging rosacea, Cormier says. The full-service spa also offers massages that can be enhanced or upgraded, microdermabrasion, peels and masks, full body waxing, tanning packages, and cosmetic services, according to the Emerald Lotus website.
Cormier is currently researching teaming up with a local physician. “That will give us the opportunity to provide more medical and anti-aging services for the community,” Cormier says. “We look forward to possibly launching this in 2021.”
She stresses that we need to take time to take care of ourselves. “We have been so consumed with our day-to-day work, deadlines, and schedules that we forget,” Cormier says. “Even if you start at the beginning of the year, you can continue the cycle of self-care once a month — because you only have one skin and one body.” She adds, “If you take care of yourself better and do what you need to do to stay healthy, you can be better care for your family, friends, and work.”
