Two Valencia Hotel Group properties – Hotel Alessandra in Houston and Cavalry Court in College Station – have been recognized by Interior Design Magazine for their cool and captivating lobbies at www.interiordesign.net/articles/16071-22-cool-and-captivating-hotel-lobbies/.
Both recently opened hotels were designed in partnership with Rottet Studio. Over the last decade, Founding Principal & President Lauren Rottet, FAIA, FIIDA has led the Houston-based architecture and interior design firm to accolades including Top 3 Most Admired Design Firms in the world. Rottet is the first woman in history to be recognized as a Fellow member by both the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association.
Hotel Alessandra was named the #2 hotel on the list. Pairing traditional glamour with modern sophistication, the property gives the guest an incredible sense of entry with a dramatic staircase that leads to the second floor lobby. The reception desk features a Reinhard Görner photograph as the backdrop to the custom made brass and marble desk.
Cavalry Court was named #20 on the list. Inspired by the agricultural and military surroundings of Texas A&M University, this property exudes a rustic feel. Visitors enter through a brick lobby building, where the resident Australian shepherd, Jack, hangs out by the front desk. A focal point of the space is the reclaimed pine slat ceiling. Among the many subtle nods to the area’s military traditions include a display of toy soldiers on the coffee table.
According to Rottet, “We are moved to see two of our Valencia Hotel Group projects recognized by this prestigious publication. It has been a pleasure to work closely on numerous initiatives with Valencia Hotel Group’s President and Founder Doyle Graham Jr. and Vice President of Branding and Design Brandi Montgomery to create vivid character stories that add to the unique appeal and immersive aspects of these destinations. I also want to applaud Rottet Studio’s Chris Evans, a brilliant designer responsible for these magical spaces.”
