After a week of exciting bidding, two lucky winners are each taking home a flight of the coveted Pappy Van Winkle Collection! WB Liquors & Wine launched the seven-day online auction on May 28 giving bourbon fans the chance to bid for one of the world’s most sought after whiskeys.
While the family owned spirits company has hosted this auction in previous years, the decision to donate proceeds to local food banks was a new addition for 2020.
“The idea to host the auction alongside the donation to food banks seemed like the best way to give back during this pandemic,” says John Herrmann, president of WB Liquors & Wine. “Supporting our neighbors in need is part of our culture as a family owned business, and providing this auction to help others definitely seemed like the right thing to do.”
The auction officially came to a close on Wednesday, June 3, bringing in a grand donation total of $18,000. The San Antonio Food Bank will receive $9,000 and the Brazos Valley Food Bank will receive $9,000.
Each auction winner received a flight of the following spirits:
- Old Rip Van Winkle 10-year
- Van Winkle Special Reserve 12-year
- Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 15-year
- Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 20-year
- Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 23-year
Herrmann released a social media announcement on Friday, June 5, to share the donation amount with viewers. Audiences were invited to watch the Facebook Live Premiere via the company’s Facebook page at 11:30am to submit any comments or questions in real time.
