We are family friendly. We have accessible parks, innovative recreational programs, and camps to challenge children of all ages. Our parks system covers 51 properties totaling 700 acres and continues to expand with new green space development. We have a bounty of baseball and soccer fields, a state-of-the-art skate park, numerous splash pads, walking/hiking trails, two dozen pavilions for picnicking and reunions, and four terrific pools. Our community also boasts Lake Bryan, a 125-acre hot spot for outdoor enthusiasts. We are home to the Brazos Valley Bombers, a Texas Summer Collegiate baseball league, and the future home of the Brazos Valley Cavalry, an affiliate Major League Soccer team of the Houston Dynamo.
Two of the three libraries in the Bryan College Station Library System call historic Downtown Bryan home. Clara B. Mounce Public Library offers weekly story times, literacy programs, homework assistance, and other enrichment opportunities, and the Carnegie History Center serves as a premier resource for genealogical and local history research. Only 13 of the 32 Carnegie libraries remain and the Carnegie History Center is the oldest Carnegie library still in use in Texas.
Our public school system is the only one in the region that offers dual language programs for elementary-age students, hosts an International Baccalaureate program, and fosters collegiate-level instruction through an early college high school. The Bryan Independent School District is comprised of 23 schools, a diverse student population, and a goal of excellence as acknowledged by the 24 Texas Education Agency distinctions awarded for the 2015-16 school year.
We are service and citizen focused. From public safety to electric utilities, City of Bryan operates with citizens in mind.
Both the Bryan Fire and Police departments host community engagement programs and participate in special events to foster relationships with residents and visitors. From citizen academies and National Night Out to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team and Coffee with a Cop programs, maintaining our family friendly atmosphere through top-notch public safety personnel remains a priority.
Our electric utility service provider, Bryan Texas Utilities, has been municipally owned since 1909. BTU’s rates are not-for-profit and there are no shareholders. Customer rates are determined by what it costs to serve our customers and in turn allows BTU to keep rates as low as possible.
We are growing. Exponentially. Our community offers countless opportunities for personal development, career advancement, and entrepreneurial endeavors. We boast a full-service regional airport, Coulter Airfield, and more than 850 acres of developable property with rail access. We even offer a builder incentive program for targeted residential development and tax incentives for economic development where new value is created.
Our residents are fortunate to have access to world renowned healthcare facilities and higher education institutions.
