The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service has created the Institute for Law Enforcement & Protective Services Excellence. The institute will offer law enforcement and security extension training, which has been a hallmark of TEEX for more than 75 years, while expanding its offerings into the broad array of protective services that include security assessments, disaster preparedness, continuity of operations, and product evaluation, among others. The institute is housed at the Texas A&M University System RELLIS Campus.
“We have a distinguished history and an excellent reputation for high-quality law enforcement and security training across the Brazos Valley and the state of Texas,” says Dr. John Ray, director of the TEEX Institute for Law Enforcement & Protective Services Excellence. “But this designation more accurately reflects our multidimensional services that reach a national and international audience, including a broad spectrum of state and local governments, federal agencies, private sector companies, foreign entities, researchers, and all types of organizations.”
“We are also collaborating with our sister engineering agencies in The Texas A&M University System to find ways to reduce officer deaths in traffic accidents, improve radio communications, reduce exposure to fentanyl and test weapons and less-lethal technologies,” he adds.
“The Institute for Law Enforcement & Protective Services Excellence is a team of professionals prepared to offer a broad array of excellent services to a diverse group of clientele,” says Charley Todd, interim director of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
