For just over three decades, Habitat for Humanity has contributed to the wellbeing of over 300 families and various members of the local community to construct safe and affordable living in the Brazos Valley. However, Habitat for Humanity recognizes that the organization could not do what they do without the help of the local community in the Brazos Valley.
To celebrate the local volunteers, Habitat for Humanity is hosting its 20th annual Community Builder’s Breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the College Station Hilton.
As their first major fundraiser of the year and the only local nonprofit breakfast in the area, Habitat for Humanity wants to reach out and connect with the Bryan/College Station community to show what Habitat for Humanity is doing in the community, says Carl Orozco, Habitat for Humanity’s Director of Development.
“It sets pace for the rest of the year, so it is critical we do well,” he says.
Community leaders, business leaders and many recognizable faces from the B/CS area will be in attendance including supporters and donors to the organization. The breakfast will also feature a keynote speech by Norman Clearfield.
“It is a good opportunity to [network] and speak with people in attendance,” Carl says.
Not only is the breakfast a time to network and celebrate volunteers, Carl emphasized that one of the best parts of having the needed funding to continue building affordable houses is giving the kids a solid foundation to grow into great people.
“All the money raised here helps us continue to do what we do here which is build safe, decent, affordable housing right here in Bryan/College Station for Habitat families who qualify for our program,” Carl says.
This is a FREE event, however it is invitation only. Want an invitation? Those wanting to attend should reach out to Carl Orozco by email at corozco@habitatbcs.org or by phone at (979) 823-7200 ext. 104.
