The Downtown Bryan Association is excited to announce the recognition of Executive Director Sandy Farris, who received the Susan H. Campbell Award for Professional Excellence at the 2018 Texas Downtown Association conference in Corpus Christi. The Susan H. Campbell Award recognizes a person who has displayed outstanding professionalism, achievement, and support of a Texas downtown community.
Farris states, "I’m honored and humbled to receive this award. It’s a reflection of all who work hard to showcase our great downtown. My exceptional staff, board of trustees, downtown merchants, and the support from the City of Bryan are all instrumental in creating this vibrant downtown for the community. Everything we do is a team effort and I’m just glad to be a part of it.”
In the five years as the Executive Director for the Downtown Bryan Association, Sandy Farris has led the charge in promoting Downtown Bryan through events, marketing, merchant support, and community partnerships. Sandy has lived in Bryan for more than 25 years and has seen the downtown community grow from a ghost town to the vibrant and thriving area that it is today. She spearheaded the expansion of events and activities that Downtown Bryan has to offer from 15 to the now 30-plus events a year including Texas Reds Steak & Grape Festival, which attracts more than 10,000 visitors annually, and the popular monthly First Fridays, which include music, food, entertainment, and community organizations.
