United Way of the Brazos Valley will be hosting the Third Annual Jingle Book Bash, a free book giveaway, the first three Saturdays in December (Dec. 7, 14, and 22) from 10am to 3pm. One of the Bold Goals of United Way of the Brazos Valley is to prepare children, teens, and young adults for career achievement through educational success. The goal of the Jingle Book Bash is to encourage the love of reading and provide access to books during the holiday season. Jingle Book Bash will be located in the JC Penney Court at the Post Oak Mall next to Santa Claus.
“Giving the gift of learning and sharing the love of reading is something we value at United Way of the Brazos Valley. We believe every child should have their own books to read and cherish,” says Peggi Goss, vice president of community impact at United Way of the Brazos Valley.
Join United Way while your child picks their own free book to take home with them. The selection is appropriate for babies, toddlers, children, and teens. There will be a reading area so children can read while they wait their turn with Santa Claus. The Post Oak Mall will also have a princess at each Jingle Book Bash weekend from 11am to 1pm who will entertain children with story time, sing-a-longs, fun dances, and a meet and greet.
“At such a busy time of year, United Way of the Brazos Valley seeks to provide families with more opportunities to enjoy moments of reading together,” states Goss.
Two-thirds of children living in poverty grow up with no books at home. Studies show that the number of books in the home is directly linked to reading achievement. Children who grow up with access to books in their homes reach a higher level of education. United Way of the Brazos Valley is tackling this issue to support early literacy for all children.
United Way of the Brazos Valley fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in the Brazos Valley.
