Dust off your mahjong tiles and grab your playing cards, the 6th annual Play a Hand for Hospice is back.
Hospice Auxiliary is presenting this year’s fundraiser at Pebble Creek Country Club on Jan. 24 from 10am to 3pm. The entry fee is $65 and includes lunch, tea, coffee, dessert, entertainment, door prizes, and more. A raffle offers the chance to win a jewelry piece from Sherilyn Gilmore Fine Jewelry.
Participants are encouraged to reserve tables of four and bring games to share with their guests. The most popular games from last year’s event include bridge, Mahjong, Shanghi, Hand and Foot, and canasta, but participants are welcome to play any games they choose. Reservations for tables of four must be made by Jan. 14.
“We have had extraordinary success with this fundraiser; everyone has such a good time and looks forward to it every year,” says Judy Nash, treasurer of Hospice Auxiliary. “It’s a great way to have fun with your friends while supporting a good cause.”
The proceeds generated from the event go directly to Hospice Brazos Valley, a nonprofit, community-based hospice organization.
“With the event last year we were able to give Hospice Brazos Valley $8,400 and we’re hoping to raise even more this year,” says Nash.
