Support Hospice Brazos Valley at Hog Splash 2011 on August 20. Saturday's first ever MUDD Volleyball Tournament benefitting Hospice Brazos Valley was GREAT! The Insite Mud Daubbers were undefeated in the first three games, but sadly, were pulled under the mud in the first championship round. Next year -- beware the Insite Mud Daubbers -- we'll be back!
The first Hospice Brazos Valley & Slovacek Sausage “Hog Splash” will be volleyball at its finest this Saturday, August 20, in the MUDD! The tournament pits will rotate 48 co-ed teams (8-10 players per team), playing against each other knee-deep in MUDD. More than 600 participants are expected to play in the tournament and spectators are encouraged to come support the teams and Hospice Brazos Valley.
Come out Saturday, 9am to 5pm, to Snook, Hwy. 60, just behind the Slovacek Sausage store. It’s possible to have an outrageously good time in support of an organization that provides a serious and vital mission.
“While planning events for the year we decided it was an important goal to reach a younger group within our community,” says Community Resource Associate Kim Augsburger. “We want to let them know who we are, what we do, and how to get involved. The ‘Hog Splash’ seemed like a great, fun way to do that.”
A non-profit organization with offices in Bryan, Brenham and LaGrange, Hospice Brazos Valley’s mission is to provide comfort and care to individuals touched by life-limiting illness, grief and loss. Their goals of care are accomplished through a comprehensive, individualized plan including medical care for the patient and social, emotional and spiritual support for the entire family. Hospice Brazos Valley provides care to all people in need without regard to race, age, faith, diagnosis or ability to pay for services.
Hog Splash 2011 will be different from other fundraisers in that it’s an event the entire community can get involved in. “It’s the dirtiest way to have good clean fun,” says Augsburger.
CARPOOL – a student-run non-profit organization that provides rides to students and community residents – will be the core volunteer group on the day of the event. Augsburger says Hospice Brazos Valley is excited to donate a portion of the funds raised at the tournament to CARPOOL, another worthy local non-profit.
Hog Splash 2011 will surely be a tournament to remember. MUDD, volleyball, a little competition and some Slavacek Sausage to top off a day of raising money and awareness for Hospice Brazos Valley seem like the perfect end-of-summer combination.
COME OUT TO SLOVACEK'S AND CHEER ON YOUR FAVORITE HOG SPLASH TEAM!
