It’s time to break out your favorite card game and brush up on your skills; Hospice Auxiliary is hosting its annual “Play a Hand for Hospice” on January 28 at the Miramont Country Club.
“It is a fun filled day of playing bridge, mahjong, dominoes, or your game of choice along with entertainment, great door prizes, and a wonderful lunch,” says Judy Nash, the treasurer for Hospice Auxiliary of Brazos Valley.
Beginning at 10 a.m., coffee and tea will be served to participants to get gears turning, energies up, and adrenalines going. Once given a table number, the various games will be played throughout the morning. Lunch will be served and the game playing will resume until 3 p.m. Door prizes are handed out throughout the day. For entertainment, the Singing Cadets, Texas A&M University’s Men’s Chorus, will be providing entertainment during lunch.
“’Play a Hand for Hospice’ is such a fun event, yet it’s such a wonderful fundraiser,” says Felicita Longnecker, publicity chair for Hospice Auxiliary Brazos Valley. “That’s the beautiful part of it; how the community comes together. It really takes a community to make our efforts a success.”
“Hospice Auxiliary Brazos Valley has positively impacted 11,000 patients with the commitment of passion for the terminally ill,” says Longnecker. Serving seventeen counties around the area, Hospice Auxiliary Brazos Valley is a member-driven non-profit organization providing support and promotion to Hospice Brazos Valley. Hospice Brazos Valley, the only non-profit hospice in the community, serves 17 counties around the area, including Brenham and La Grange, by providing a variety of services tailored to the wishes of the patients in order to live a comfortable life. With counselors, nurses, and social workers, they team up with the families to make plans for their loved ones.
Due by January 14, reservations for Play a Hand for Hospice can be made by contacting Judy Nash at (979) 777-5244, or jnash81100@aol.com. The cost for each participant is $60, which includes lunch, tea, and dessert. All proceeds will be benefitting Hospice Brazos Valley.
