Former Texas A&M University All-American football star Von Miller will launch his Von’s Vision Center on campus Sept. 18 to provide easier access to students in need of eye exams and eyewear.
The Von’s Vision Center program is an extension of the Vision Day program hosted on campus in March 2018 and is located in the A.P. Beutel Health Center on the Texas A&M campus.
Undergraduate students who are eligible for financial aid at Texas A&M and who do not currently have vision insurance may be eligible to receive a no-cost comprehensive eye exam and, if prescribed, high-quality prescription glasses.
Von’s Vision Centers were initially launched in a pair of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver facilities, which serves up to 700 students a year. Because of its success, Miller decided to bring this same impact to Texas A&M where Miller had an outstanding career for the Aggies.
In Denver, Von’s Vision partners with national and regional vision care providers and eye wear retailers to provide a city-wide vision day for low-income students. Each student receives a free screening, and if needed, free eye exams and corrective eyewear. After the prescription glasses have been made, each student is fitted for their new glasses. Since its inception, Von’s Vision has given the gift of sight to more than 6,500 students in Colorado and Texas.
Registration for the Von’s Vision Center is now open at the Von's Vision website. Future event dates and registration information can be found on the website as well.
Von’s Vision will continue its ongoing partnership with Hero Practice Services and Etnia Barcelona, who serve as the foundation’s exclusive lens provider and exclusive frames provider.
As a four-year football letterman and All-American in 2009 and 2011, Miller had tremendous success at Texas A&M. In 2010, he earned the Butkus Award for the nation’s outstanding linebacker and was drafted by the Broncos second overall in the 2011 draft. Considered as one of the best defenders in the NFL, he is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
