On Tuesday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m., The George & Barbara Bush Foundation, The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University, and the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum are hosting an online event featuring James A. Baker III, the 61st U.S. Secretary of State.
Secretary Baker will be joined in conversation by Bret Baier, Fox News Channel’s chief political anchor, best-selling author, and host of Special Report with Bret Baier, to discuss the 30th anniversary of the end of the Gulf War.
President George H. W. Bush famously reacted to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 by declaring “this aggression will not stand.” From that moment forward, Secretary Baker played a key role in formulating the policies and strategy that led to victory. Through coercive diplomacy and unprecedented coalition building, Secretary Baker’s leadership was critical to the success of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
