A solar eclipse, one of nature’s most impressive displays, will happen on April 8 and Texas A&M University Libraries will distribute a limited amount of free safety glasses to students, faculty and staff.
Remember, it is safe to view the eclipse only with proper viewing equipment. Since there is a limited number of glasses, current Aggie students will have priority in receiving them.
In Aggieland, the eclipse will begin at 12:19 p.m., continue until 1:39 p.m. when 98.6% of the sun is covered, and end at 3 p.m.
It’ll be the second eclipse visible in Texas in just under six months. In October 2023, the libraries organized a viewing event that drew hundreds.
