StageCenter Theatre presents The Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash, May 30th-June 15th at 7:30 pm with a 2pm matinee on June 9th. Directed by Jay Thompson. At the time of a paralyzing drought we discover Lizzie Curry, a girl whose father and two brothers are worried as much about her potential future as an old maid as they are about their dying cattle. Suddenly, out of nowhere, appears Bill Starbuck, a sweet-talking man with quite the sales pitch. Claiming to be a “rainmaker”, he promises to bring relief from the drought for $100. Meanwhile, he turns his magic on Lizzie, and persuades her that love, like the much needed rain, is soon on the horizon.
