Messina Hof Winery, the most awarded winery in Texas, announces the launch of the Bonarrigo Family Wines collection. The premium wine collection, crafted from Italian varietals grown in Texas, is a new Heritage Series dedicated to honoring the strength of the family dynamic and the tradition of Bonarrigo Family’s winemaking lineage.
The Bonarrigo Family began making wine more than 200 years ago in Messina, Sicily. For seven generations, the Bonarrigos have produced wines of passion and heart. The tradition started in Italy, took root in America, and today the family continues crafting soulful wines in Texas while honoring its Italian lineage.
The first releases of the Bonarrigo namesake brand include the 2018 Heritage Select dry, white wine blend, and the 2018 Heritage Reserve dry, red wine blend. With traditional Old-World style characteristics and flavor profiles, each wine was designed to pair with rustic Italian dishes and be enjoyed at family meals and celebrations.
“With this new label, the Bonarrigo Family is embracing our heritage and honoring the heart and passion that generations of Bonarrigos have poured into the home, the kitchen, and the art of winemaking,” says owner and winemaker Paul M. Bonarrigo. “Everything in an Italian household revolves around the family, and our hope is that these prestigious Old-World style wines will lead family and friends to the table together to experience food, wine, and fellowship.”
The refreshing, dry-style Heritage Select is made with 83 percent Pinot Grigio grapes and 17 percent Trebbiano and offers delicate aromas of honeysuckle and white flowers while crisp citrus flavors and bright acidity are complemented by a smooth tropical finish and medium body. In contrast, the Heritage Reserve is a blend of 55 percent Sagrantino, 30 percent Primitivo, and 15 percent Sangiovese. Heritage Reserve is characterized by savory nuances of herbs and spice, beautiful dark fruit flavors, and tannins that coat the palate with elegant complexity.
Available for tastings or by the bottle, the wine can be purchased at each of Messina Hof’s three locations: the Messina Hof Estate Winery in Bryan, Messina Hof Hill Country Winery in Fredericksburg, and Messina Hof Grapevine Winery just outside Dallas. Consumers can also purchase bottles of the wine through Messina Hof’s website.
As the largest producer of Texas wine, Messina Hof recently broke ground on its fourth winery location, Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery and Kitchen, which will open its doors to the Houston area this winter.
Messina Hof is a leader in the wine industry and the most awarded winery in Texas with a vast portfolio of more than 90 Texas wines currently available in multi-state distribution and to ship to more than 30 states.
