Summer is here, luring more visitors to the Texas countryside with golden hills, fields of wildflowers, verdant vines, and of course, great wine! Skip the trip to Napa and head for the rolling hills and valleys of Southeast Texas. The Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail offers oenophiles spectacular views and award-winning wines not far from the heart of Houston. Located between I-45 and U.S. Highway 290, visitors will find eight unique wineries spread out within a day trip distance in their own backyard. This summer, take advantage of the thriving wine industry in Texas.
Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail member wineries include, Bernhardt Winery in Plantersville, Cork This! Winery in Montgomery, Messina Hof Winery in Bryan, Peach Creek Vineyards in College Station, Perrine Winery in College Station, Pleasant Hill Winery in Brenham, Saddlehorn Winery in Burton, and Texas Star Winery in Chappell Hill.
Throughout the year, member wineries participate in five very different wine trail events that celebrate the seasons and holidays.
This summer tour the July Harvest Wine Trail the first two weekends in July, that’s July 6 and 7 and July 13 and 14, for an opportunity to see mature fruit at your local vineyards. Veraison, or the change of color in grapes, occurs in the warm summer months as the grape clusters ripen and develop sugars. This is the best time to see vineyards at their peak before harvest in late July and August!
At each winery visited on the trail, participants will receive one scrumptious summer food pairing with two wine selections. It’s a great opportunity to take a break from the heat, learn more about Texas wine, visit with the wine makers and winery owners, and most importantly, have some summer fun!
Ticket holders on this trail receive a Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail glass upon arrival to their first winery. Participants will also receive a specially selected Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail gift at their sixth stop, while supplies last.
Guests can start at the winery of their choice. Trail tickets are valid for one visit at all of the wineries over the two weekends of the trail regardless of when tickets are purchased. Ticket holders have four days over two weekends to visit all the member wineries.
The official hours for this event are 12 to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday for each trail weekend, regardless of the wineries’ individual tasting room hours.
