Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, a leading full-service family sports bar that provides gourmet takes on game day favorites, will soon be College Station’s go-to community restaurant by late 2019. The brand has gained a loyal following for employing the go-getter spirit of a walk-on athlete while providing superior service and mouthwatering All-American menu items with a taste of Louisiana.
Before its doors officially open, the brand is holding a groundbreaking celebration on June 11, at 4320 State Highway 6 South, for the 8,800-square-foot restaurant slated to open in November 2019. Attendees will be served samples of their popular Crawfish Etouffee, Duck and Andouille Gumbo, and Krispy Kreme Donut Bread Pudding.
The new restaurant kicks off its groundbreaking event at 11am with opening remarks from Walk-On’s founder, Brandon Landry. A brief ceremony will follow, giving community members the opportunity to hear from the local franchise owners, Jenny and Cory Davis.
Jenny and Cory Davis are both graduates of Texas A&M University. They share a passion for all things Texas A&M, family, giving back, and great food. Cory and Jenny spent three years in Lafayette, Louisiana, where they fell in love with the friendly people and flavorful cuisine. They often frequented the Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar in Lafayette for dinner with friends and business gatherings.
Fast-forward several years and now, Cory and Jenny are bringing the food and fun they loved so much during their time in Louisiana to a place they consider so special. Plus, what better place to open a Walk-On's than the "Home of the 12th Man?"
Cory says, “As a child, I dreamed of playing football for Texas A&M. That dream came true for me. A walk-on needs skill, but what really matters is attitude and heart. My walk on experience coinciding with Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar are meant to be. This concept has a lot of heart and a team attitude, not to mention outstanding cuisine.”
Jenny says she shares Cory's excitement for their new restaurant adventure in College Station.
“College Station has always held a special place in our hearts so we’re beyond ecstatic to be returning to a place we’ve always considered home,” Jenny shares. “When it came to location selection, we knew the iconic water tower on the south side was a perfect fit. We look forward to being part of the community with our family while serving those around us and having fun along the way.”
Community members are invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony and a free, open-to-the-public reception where both complimentary food and refreshments will be available. All attendees are invited to an exclusive tasting experience to try some of Walk-On’s most famous and mouthwatering menu items such as Crawfish Etouffee, Duck and Andouille Gumbo, and Krispy Kreme Donut Bread Pudding.
“We’re extremely excited to bring everyone in the College Station area a Walk-On’s to call their own,” says Landry. “Our Walk-On’s team could not be more pleased to be welcoming the Davis’ into our family and know that they are true, passionate, food-oriented franchisees who will bring nothing but success to this new territory we’re expanding in. I look forward to witnessing how the community reacts to our arrival and hope that each and everyone enjoys themselves and our food as soon as we open.”
