There is something magical about traveling the rolling hills and valleys of Texas wine country in the winter. Short, cool, crisp days linger in the air, and the sense of the upcoming changing season is as beautifully apparent as the layers of flavor in a great glass of wine.
Change is everywhere you look, the dormant lifestyle of once verdant vines will come to an end, while the romantic season of Valentine’s Day blossoms as a prerequisite of spring.
The first two weekends in February are the perfect time to head for the rolling hills and valleys of Southeast Texas — the Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail offers spectacular views and award-winning wines not far from the heart of Houston. Located between I-45 and U.S. Highway 290, visitors will find eight unique wineries spread out within a day trip distance in their own backyard. This Valentine’s season, take advantage of the thriving wine industry in Texas, often overlooked.
Throughout the year, member wineries participate in four very different wine trail events that celebrate the seasons and holidays each year.
The Wine & Chocolate Trail is a wonderful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with that special someone or with that special wine lover in your life.
On the first two weekends in February, those who attend can sample two wine tastings paired with a wonderful chocolate delicacy at each of the eight member wineries along the trail.
Ticket holders on this trail will receive a Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail glass upon arrival to their first winery. Participants will also receive a specially selected Texas Bluebonnet Wine Trail gift at their sixth stop, while supplies last.
Guests can start at the winery of their choice. Trail tickets are valid for one visit to all of the wineries over the two weekends of the trail regardless of when tickets are purchased. Ticket holders have four days over two weekends to visit all the member wineries.
The official hours for this event are noon to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday for each trail weekend, regardless of the wineries’ individual tasting room hours.
