7F Lodge is not only a full-service wedding venue, but also a bed and breakfast steeped in history and charm located in south College Station just off Greens Prairie road. Their motto, “We are a getaway without having to go away,” truly embodies a ‘staycation,’ offering Texas hospitality in comfortable lodgings, natural event spaces, and culinary offerings.
7F Lodge originally opened around 1997 by Carol Frierson-Conlee, on her family land, and is now owned by Bill and Lisa Wantuck with daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Ryan Lundell. Frierson-Conlee and her husband had the idea to start a bed and breakfast using the cabins they built. The couple had also built a wedding chapel on the property, where they were married, which led to the idea of using 7F Lodge as a wedding venue, too.
“It was really a first of its kind here in our area,” says Lisa Wantuck.
Couples can enjoy a full weekend of events or just one night, while staying in one of the eight on-site cabins. Each cabin is themed and decorated and scattered throughout the wooded 14-acre property, all with a private porch and a Jacuzzi tub for two, with a romantic elegance that just can’t be recreated anywhere else.
“We’re all about being in tune with the person you’re with in nature,” says Wantuck. Part of the way to ensure guests accomplish that is that there is no Wi-Fi or television, she says.
“You gotta really love the one you’re with … or get to,” says Wantuck.
Anyone is welcome to stay at the 7F Lodge — from couples to families and even individuals looking to recharge. With their events center and chapel, they do a lot of weddings, and staying in the cabins is a unique experience with family and friends, shares Wantuck.
“We do our own catering too, so we can do cook outs and a s’mores bar and fun things like that,” says Wantuck. “So, a lot of different experiences come with the cabins and the events.”
Anytime is a good time to book a cabin at the 7F Lodge. “There isn’t really a bad time, especially if you just want to be with the ones you love and have a little down time,” says Wantuck.
