Sometimes you meet people in the most unexpected places. That was exactly the case when Alexis Gonzales met her future husband, Tim Ontiveros.
A friend convinced a hesitant Alexis to celebrate her 21st birthday in Austin with some friends. Tim’s niece was part of the group and invited Tim and his friends to go as well. While he was also hesitant, he decided the day of to join... with no hotel room reservation or anything else planned. Eventually, the large birthday group split into smaller groups, and that’s when Tim and Alexis got to talking. They found out they lived in the same apartment complex back in Bryan and it was love ever since!
Alexis couldn’t have asked for a better proposal. “The first word that comes to mind when trying to describe it is... perfect — just the two of us,” she says.
In the previous year, a friend encouraged Alexis to pick out a ring she would one day want Tim to give her, and she then realized she had no clue what she would want! Having never looked up rings before, she didn’t even know where to start. She didn’t want to put pressure on him, but she thought it might be a good idea to just find something she liked for the future. After finding a beautiful ring that she was in love with, she sent a picture to Tim. At that time, they also began the process of building a house together. Their beautiful new home was finally complete in May of 2017.
One night, Alexis and Tim were hanging out at their new house with some family. While Alexis was scrolling through her phone, she noticed Zales was having a sale. When Tim discovered what she was looking at, he casually said, “Well, I have your ring already.”
Tim is an avid trickster, so Alexis didn’t believe he really had the ring. He got up and started walking towards the closet and said, “I’m serious, come here.” Tim told her to look in one of the cloth bags his shoes came in. Her hands were shaking as she stuck her hand in the shoe bag and she felt the small box. So many tears just poured out as she was filled with pure happiness. All she could do was squeeze Tim and cry when she heard him say, “Do you want to marry me?”
Her best friend, the love of her life, asked her to spend his entire life with him. Alexis cried for three days straight when she was explaining the story to friends and family. This was the moment she had dreamed of since she was a little girl, and it was so much more than she imagined.
The weather forecasts had predicted rain all week, but on the day of Alexis and Tim’s wedding, no rain was in sight, and they were able to enjoy a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony at the Waterside Gazebo at Inn at Quarry Ridge.
Alexis and Tim chose the marble package at Inn at Quarry Ridge, which allowed them to be on site from Friday at 2pm until 5pm on Sunday. They were able to enjoy an overnight stay both Friday evening and Saturday after their wedding.
Alexis and Tim had a beautiful wedding reception inside Stonehem Hall, laughing and dancing the night away. They ended their perfect evening with a sparkler exit, lighting the way to their new life together.
