Pumpkinpalooza is an annual weekend event held in College Station and benefitting the nonprofit Millican Alliance. Best known for “pumpkin chunkin” (launching pumpkins from large trebuchets) and market-style activities, this year’s event will be substantially modified in light of coronavirus health concerns.
Pumpkinpalooza 2020 will be held on Oct. 17 at Millican Reserve and feature the Pumpkinpalooza Trail Run and the Millican Music Festival.
The Pumpkinpalooza Trail Run is sponsored by First Light Running. This will be a 5k, 10k, half marathon, and full marathon with rolling starts. Registration is available here: runsignup.com/Race/TX/CollegeStation/PumpkinPaloozaTrailRun.
The Millican Music Festival starts at 5:30pm and will feature James Lann, Joey McGee and the Post Hole Diggers, and Geoff Spahr, as well as kids activities, food trucks, and the traditional pumpkin chunkin. This is an BYO event. Strict COVID-19 protocols will be in effect, and areas will be designated on the outdoor lawn for families and members of close social circles to sit together, separated by wide walkways. Tickets are $10 online, and only a limited number are available. Tickets and more information about this fun, family-friendly outdoor festival can be found at pumpkinpaloozaBCS.com.
A pumpkin patch will be available for photographs and pumpkin purchases on Saturday and Sunday.
