This July, Wreaths Across America is hosting the “Giving in July” campaign. WAA is a nonprofit organization that honors and remembers veterans by laying wreaths at cemeteries across the U.S. The campaign aims to honor and remember our country’s veterans each and every day of the year, not just in December.
Inspired by the “Christmas in July” theme, WAA is partnering nationally with five other like-minded nonprofits that also give back to veteran and military communities. Throughout the month when a wreath is sponsored through each group’s designated page, $5 of the $15 contribution will go directly toward the featured group to help support their mission.
In 2015 Bryan College Station was added as a WAA location and placed 110 wreaths at local cemeteries. The number of wreaths placed at all four B/CS city cemeteries and 17 other Brazos Valley cemeteries then grew from 760 wreaths in 2016 to 1,253 wreaths in 2017.
Over the last 10 years, WAA has given back more than $8 million to other nonprofits through the same fundraising program, while sharing the mission to remember, honor, and teach.
