According to a recent press release, the book "provides acute care for those devastated by loss, holding readers’ hands through the early stages of grief and providing guidance for sustained healing into the future. During the pandemic, families worldwide have been forced to surrender many of the routines that defined their daily lives. This new chapter of uncertainty is leading to the rise of mental health issues, violence, depression and addiction that endanger all people, but especially our children. With 100,000 overdoses in 2021 alone, along with accidents, suicide, illness and murder…and though our cries have been muffled by masks, this is a brokenhearted nation. When a parent buries a child — at age 2 or 22 or 50 — it is always devastating. How is one to respond to the catastrophic loss and pain that accompanies the loss of a child? After losing two of her sons and a grandson, Cheryl Christopher’s new book, 'A Portrait of Grief,' is written with transparency and authenticity and is unlike any in its genre. In concise chapters, the author points fellow grievers toward hope and renewal through stories, teachings and music selected to soothe the soul. 'A Portrait of Grief' simply and truthfully tells about the God who is there, who reveals Himself gently through compassionate care and a loving presence for those traveling through the 'valley of the shadow of death.'"
The 234-page paperback book is available online through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Target for $17.99. A Kindle version is also available on Amazon for $8.47. "A Portrait of Grief" is currently the No. 1 new release in Amazon's Christian Death and Grief category.
