Introduction to Rigid Heddle Weaving - 1

Are you ready to begin exploring rigid heddle weaving? Learn to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom, and make a beautiful scarf. We’ll teach the basic techniques including warping your loom, plain weave, how to make stripes. You’ll learn to secure your weft with hemstitching and complete your project with twisted tassels. Your first project will make the perfect gift or be a great addition to your wardrobe!

Students bring their own Lunch & Drinks. Coffee and tea provided.
All materials included.
Students may bring their own pre-assembled Rigid Heddle loom, or rent one at a cost of $25 for the duration of the class.
Day1: Friday 5th April (10 – 2:30pm, ½ hour break for lunch)
A rigid heddle loom can be used to create a wide range of fabrics. We will review some of these and have samples at the class.
If bringing your own loom, it must be preassembled
A handout will be included, as well as acrylic yarn suitable for weaving a scarf.
Direct Warp and tie-on
Start weaving (plain weave only)
Day 2: Friday 12th April (10 – 2:30pm, ½ hour break for lunch)
Finish weaving
Take off loom, Fringe and/or finishing
Admire & photograph
Demonstrate (& show samples with) advanced pick-up sticks and draft
